CHANGING TO NEW LIBRARY CATALOG 

Thayer Public Library and all OCLN libraries are changing over to a new library catalog at the end of April. The OCLN catalog including patron accounts and services like Hoopla that connect to your OCLN library card will be unavailable from Monday, April 27 through Wednesday, April 29 while this change takes place. Our new library catalog, with a whole new look and exciting new features will be fully available on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Things to Do Before April 27

  • Make sure you know where your library card is! You will need your card April 27-29.
  • Make sure library cards for you and your family are up to date with current email addresses and mailing addresses.
  • Use monthly Kanopy tickets, Hoopla borrows, and Libby downloads before April 27.
  • Reserve passes ahead of time using our online reservation service at thayerpubliclibrary.org/museum-passes.

Important Things to Know, April 27-29

  • Thayer Public Library will be open regular hours throughout.
  • Items can be borrowed only with a library card. Self-checkout will be offline, and staff will not be able to look up patron accounts using alternate ID.
  • Items cannot be checked in. Returns will be held and checked in as soon as possible.
  • No items will be considered overdue.
  • Computers and printing will be available with use of guest passes.
  • Museum pass reservations can be made by phone. Please call the Reference Desk at 781-848-0405, and press 5.
  • These library services will be unavailable:
    • Looking up patron accounts or card numbers
    • Getting a new library card
    • Updating existing library cards
    • Searching the catalog
    • Placing new holds
    • Renewing items
    • Making payments or adjusting bills

Library Services April 27-29

Thayer Public Library will be open regular hours:

Monday through Thursday — 9 am to 9 pm
Friday & Saturday, 9 am to 5 pm

Programs, meetings, and events will all take place as scheduled.

Library e-services that require logging in with an OCLN or Thayer Public Library card, such as  Libby, Hoopla, Kanopy, Gale Courses, Udemy, Commonwealth Catalog (ComCat), etc., may not be available for new activity during the changeover, but we expect previously downloaded items and previous enrollments to be available during this time.
