MORE THAN BOOKS

The library offers so much more than just books and DVDS…

Magnifier

Designed for low vision users, the magnifier can be used by anyone to enlarge documents, photographs or drawings to make them more legible. The magnifier is located under the stairs on the Lower Level of the library.

Copy Machines

A copy machine for public use is available on each level of the library. The copiers on the Main and Upper Levels are capable of producing color or black and white images. The copier on the Lower Level makes black and white copies only. Black and white copies are 15 cents, color copies are 50 cents.

Fax Machine (outgoing only)

Fax24 Public Fax Service is an easy-to-use self-service kiosk located on the Lower Level that enables you to send faxes worldwide using a credit, debit or prepaid fax. Faxes cost $1.75 for the first page and $1.00 for each additional page (rates are higher outside of North America).

Graphing Calculators

Teens who need a graphing calculator for homework can check out a Texas Instruments graphing calculator for two hours at a time to use in the library.

Roku Players

Roku is a streaming media player that takes internet content and displays it on your TV. You can borrow one of our Roku Players and choose from hundreds of programs and movies. You’re sure to find something for everyone in the family!

Microfilm reader and Braintree newspapers on microfilm

Our microfilm reader and Braintree newspapers on microfilm are located on the Lower Level.  Looking for an old newspaper article, or just curious what happened in Braintree the week you were born? You can find what you’re looking for in Braintree newspapers — dating back to1881 — using the microfilm reader. Printing is also available.

Scanner

Two scanners, both with character recognition software, are connected to two of the public computers on the Lower level. Scan directly to a flash drive, or save your documents to the computer and email them to yourself or someone else. Use of the scanner is limited to 15 minute increments.

Wireless Printing

Send documents wirelessly to the library’s printer from any internet-connected computer, laptop, tablet or phone — no matter where you are! Just go to siteup.ocsinc.ca/site/register to get started.

Not all file formats are compatible, but you can print web pages and the most common file types such as PDF, JPG, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Printing is available in both black and white (15 cents a page) and color (50 cents a page). Once you have sent the documents to be printed you have 24 hours to come to the library to print them.
